Congratulations to George Hodgman and BETTYVILLE!

This week marks the paperback release of the wonderful BETTYVILLE, by 2016 Unbound guest George Hodgman.

Those of you who have not yet been beguiled and bewitched by this lovely memoir are in for a treat.  The premise of the book - a son leaves his publishing job in Manhattan to look after his aging mother in a small town in rural Missouri - might not sound like the most promising of premises, but Hodgman's wit and warmth deliver a thoroughly delightful rumination on family, aging, and the perils of going home. The book is always touching and often laugh out loud hilarious. (And, as Unbound visitors will discover in April, George is equally funny in person.)

But don't take our word for it. In recent weeks the accolades have been flying in.  BETTYVILLE was nominated as a finalist for the Barnes & Noble Discover Awards, which recognizes and celebrates the very best of the year's debut books, and has been nominated as a finalist in the Biography section of the National Book Critics Circle Award.  It couldn't happen to a better book.
