Celebrate Shakespeare (and we don't mean the pizza*)

It is not a complete coincidence that April 23 happens to be the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare's death - when we were looking at possible dates for the festival 18 months ago, it jumped out at us for that very reason.

We wanted to recognize and celebrate the bard on this important day, and so we're delighted that the brilliant Greenhouse Theatre Project will present "Interpreting a Genius: scenes from Shakespeare’s tragedies, comedies and histories" in the Kimball Ballroom at noon and 3.00 on Saturday. If any of you saw GTP's recent electrifying production of "Measure" (an adaptation of Measure for Measure) at Orr Street Studios (another sponsor of ours) then you will know that you're in for a stimulating and innovative theatrical adventure.

Rooted in creative collaboration, GTP is dedicated to creating dynamic and engaging theatre.  They perform and produce classical, new works and experimental theatre with an emphasis on artistic collaboration; promoting local artists, businesses and spaces.  Founded in 2011 by Artistic Director Elizabeth Braaten Palmieri and Emily Adams, GTP believes theatre should engage, excite and inspire. In August of 2015, GTP performed their original piece C’tait La Nuit at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and in March, 2016 collaborated with True/False Film Festival in an immersive puzzle theatre performance Lost Letters. We feel so lucky to have GTP in our community - they are a tremendous asset to the Columbia arts scene.
