Alex George!
You may recognize this fella. Unbound festival director Alex George writes books, too. His new novel, The Paris Hours, is set in the French capital over the course of one day in 1927, and he’ll be appearing at this year’s festival to discuss historical fiction with Whitney Scharer and Meg Waite Clayton.
A native of England, Alex George read law at Oxford University and worked as a corporate attorney in London and Paris for eight years. He has lived in Columbia, Missouri since 2003. He is the founder of the Unbound Book Festival and the owner of Skylark Bookshop in downtown Columbia. He has written seven novels, including A Good American, which was a #1 Indie Next Pick, a Barnes and Noble Discover New Writers Pick, a Midwest Connections Pick, and a a Library Journal Best Book of the Year. It was a national and international bestseller. His sixth book, Setting Free the Kites, won the Missouri Award for Fiction in 2018, and his most recent, The Paris Hours, will be released this May.
