Unbound Poets Illuminated Downtown!
We love our poets at Unbound! Poetry readings are always some of the highlights of every festival – and we wanted to celebrate and share the work of some of this year’s poets with our community in a different and unusual way. To that end, Unbound is thrilled to have partnered with our friends at the Missouri United Methodist Church on 9th Street to present Unbound Poetry Projections as part of the church’s Night Visions series. Local artist Gary Bitsicas has created stunning video artwork inspired by the work of eight poets who read at Unbound’s 2021 online festival. We’re absolutely thrilled with the result. Gary’s beautiful work, projected onto the brick wall of the church, casts the poets’ words in a new, powerful, evocative light. It’s an illuminating (literally!) experience that we hope you’ll come and witness for yourselves.
Come and stop by the church parking lot on corner of Elm and 10th Street between 7:30 and 10:00 every evening until the end of April (and maybe longer.)
Featuring poetry by: Jericho Brown, Jennifer Chang, Jay Deshpande, Lupita Eyde-Tucker, Janine Joseph, Kerrin McCadden, Rosanna Warren, and Jenny Xie.
Our thanks to Gary and Katina Bitsicas, Sarah Dresser, Gabe Fried, Kristin Gadsden, LeeAnn Garrison, Jacky Gingrich, Judith Lefevre and Ellen Rippeto for making this event a reality.
