George Saunders on a T-Shirt!

So, funny story.

Waaaaaaay back in 2019, if any of you can remember that far into the past, George Saunders came to Unbound as our keynote speaker. He was phenomenal - insanely smart, generous, and kind. The first thing that he said as he walked up to the lectern on the stage of the Missouri Theatre was: “Events like the Unbound Book Festival will save this country.”

Cue thunderous applause from 1,100 people.

Anyway, the following evening, after the festival was over and we were all eating pizza and drinking beer at the volunteer after-party at Orr Street Studios (just in case you needed a reason to volunteer) we were talking about what George had said. “We should put that on a T-shirt,” I joked. My wife stood up, walked over to George, and asked him if he would mind if we did exactly that.

Of course he didn’t mind - and so, we are pleased to present the exclusive Unbound George Saunders Badass T-shirt, which is now available for sale on this very website. All profits will go to helping us put on Unbound next year - so please, do get one (or maybe two) and show your support for Unbound!

Another funny story.

I wrote to GS with the final design for his approval, as he had asked. He wrote back as follows:
