Pictures of the Year International is the oldest and most prestigious photojournalism competition in the world. It began at the Missouri School of Journalism nearly 80 years ago. Each year expert photographers and editors meet in Columbia to select the best pictures and stories from more than 1,000 photographers working in more than 100 countries. Their work is published by leading news organizations, in book, exhibits and in documentary film. Partnering with POY, Unbound brings the vision of these visual storytellers to be part of our conversation. Those photographers who receive the competition’s highest honor, Photographers of the Year, will show and discuss their work at Big Ragtag. Pictures by these award-winning photographers will also be exhibited at Orr Street Gallery over the weekend.
