Garth Greenwell!
It’s Monday, so it’s time for another author announcement for 2020, and this week we’re very excited to welcome one of today’s most lauded young novelists, Garth Greenwell.
Garth’s extraordinary debut novel, What Belongs To You, was one of the most critically acclaimed titles of 2016, and his second book, Cleanness, is garnering equal amounts of praise. Sheila Heti describes him as “an intensely beautiful and gorgeous writer,” and Rebecca Makkai says of the new book: “It is indescribable, and it is genius.” We agree. It’s published in January 2020, and then you’ll be able to find out for yourself.
Garth Greenwell is the author of What Belongs to You, which won the British Book Award for Debut of the Year, was long-listed for the National Book Award, and was a finalist for six other awards, including the PEN/Faulkner Award and the Los Angeles Times Book Prize. A New York Times Book Review Editors’ Choice, it was named a Best Book of 2016 by more than fifty publications in nine countries, and is being translated into a dozen languages. Greenwell's fiction has appeared in The New Yorker, The Paris Review, A Public Space, and VICE, and he has written criticism for The New Yorker, the London Review of Books, and The New York Times Book Review, among other publications. Farrar, Straus and Giroux will publish his newest book, Cleanness, in January 2020. He lives in Iowa City.
