We Need Drivers!

Folks, we’re getting close. The programs are printed, the posters are going up, our red and white banners are all over downtown. Everyone is drinking more coffee. If you haven’t already done so, have a look at the schedule for Saturday and start planning your day.

But we need some help.

As you all know by now, the festival is free to attend, and one way that we manage to achieve this year after year is by keeping costs low wherever we can. For example: most of our authors fly into either St Louis or Kansas City airports, and we ask volunteers to collect them and drive them to Columbia. In addition to being cost-effective, it’s one more way to create connection between authors and our community: spending a couple of hours trying not to look at the billboards on I-70 can be a great bonding experience..

This year we are in desperate need of more folks to help out with this. We know gas is expensive right now and so we’re more than happy to reimburse this cost if you would like. But if you fancy some time in the car with a brilliant author (or two) and have a little time to spare and help us out, we’d be eternally grateful. Please go here and fill out the volunteer form and click the box marked “Airport Drivers.”

Thank you so much!
